Monkey and the typewriter

I understand the underlying logic behind the statement that a monkey with a typewriter will someday produce a sonnet given enough time is the mathematical argument that any event with a positive probability must happen given enough occurrences.

But does a monkey has positive probability to hit all the keys? Monkey is a metaphor - understood. The more abstract version of my question is, how does one know if all the events are philosophically plausible has non-zero probability of actually happening?

Where are the aliens?

I have an interesting theory on why we haven't found any advanced civilizations yet. May be physics allows us to create our own universes. They have found that trick and are gone.
